bed and breakfast in Brisbane

I just retured (to the U.S.) from Brisbane, stayed with some friends in
a surburb called Capalaba. Would like to go back but stay in the city
for a couple of weeks. Is there any reasonable accomodations near the
center of the city. Either a bed and breakfast or residential YMCA
available. The hotel rates are very high for a 2 week stay. Really liked
the place but what to be able to get around on my own. Rich

What is your budget, and which section of the city are you
looking for? CBD, Valley, Spring Hill, West End, South
Brisbane are all effectively city central or a short bus
ride away.

I prefer West End (part of South Brisbane in wotif) for a
range of fairly cheap accommodation and a good street of
cafes and restaurants for inexpensive meals. You can walk or
bus to the theatres at QPAC and the CBD is just over the
bridge from there. However, Spring Hill and the valley are
also close.

Check www.wotif.com.au . At the cheap end, be aware that the
Tourist Guest Hotel in the Valley is basically a
back-packers with very thin walls. We had some very
enthusiastic Swedish guests in the room next to ours who
seemed to be making their own XXX movie. Not recommended if
you prefer to sleep.

but I will save the information that you sent and really check it out if
I do make the trip. I had live in Sydney in the late 60's and it was a

Good advice. Westend is the way to go. very Cafe style place. Unless your
not into that or have family try www.brisbaneholidayvillage.com.au as they
are only a 10 min walk and 11min bus ride to the city. Great shopping
centre nearby and if you rent a car they are alsmot in the hub for southeast
Qld major roads.
