Default Snorkeling Lanai in the afternoon

We're planning a return trip to Maui this April. This time we'll have
the kiddos along, and while we're arranging babysitting, we'll have a
limited number of days to do things on our own.

One of the things we really want to do is a snorkel/sail trip to
Lanai, since we didn't make it there on our first trip. We're deciding
between two options, both of which are run by Trilogy.

The first (shorter) trip allows for three hours of snorkel time off
Hulopo'e Beach in the morning, while the second (longer) trip goes
kayaking in the morning and has time for snorkeling Holupo'e in the
afternoon. My concern is this: do the trade winds kick up in the
afternoon there and mess with the water quality? In other words, would
we be sacrificing the great snorkeling to do the kayaking?

We alternatively considered going kayaking in La Perouse Bay on
another day (a trip we've done before), but we'd like to limit how
many days we do things without the kids (ages one and three; we're
*not* interested in taking them on any boating/snorkeling/kayaking
gigs).

Thanks for your help,

Amy

Hi,
I'm afraid it will be a bigger crap shoot than you think. We did a day
trip to Lanai recently and the ocean was like a pond the entire day!
This was also the first day the boat had gone out all week due to rough
weather. Hope you have similar luck.

I'm afraid you are at the mercy of the prevailing weather conditions and
April can bring choppy waters - you'll just have to hope for the best. My
suggestion would be to take the longer trip. For more information about Maui
and Snorkeling, you are invited to visit my Maui webpage at:
