Default Japan's rotenburo (hot spring) suggestion pls

Hello

Anyone has a any suggestion on which rotenburo to visit in Japan ?

I am thinking of experiencing a beautiful rotenburo and staying overnight in
a nearby ryokan.
There are so many to choose from and I would appreciate your experience pls.

Thanks.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to Yudanaka which is off a train line
from Nagano. There are many onsen in this area. There are a number of
rotenburo in Yudanaka.

The other place for hot springs is Beppu, Oita perfecture on Kiyushu Island.
There are a series of hot springs that people often visit in sequence over a
period of a day or two.

Beppu is only place I've been too in Japan I didn't care for.
Admittedly we went to the hog-diggity onsen on the hill (forget the
name). But I much prefer the little places up by Nagano.
