do they have train arriving signs near the turnstiles? The distance between turnstiles and platforms varies by station. Sometimes the trains are right behind the turnstiles; in other cases, it's quite a long walk from the turnstiles to the actual platforms. -- Transpose hotmail and mxsmanic in my e-mail address to reach me directly. |

i guess even without the signs the locals can tell above ground that a train in their direction is coming from the sounds. Not above ground, but within the stations it's often possible to tell. In the olden days, there were doors at the entrance to each platform that closed as a train approached, presumably to prevent people from trying to rush on at the last second. These doors are still in place, but they are no longer in regular use. (I saw them used once during a strike when the platforms were very, very crowded, however.) if have see many people get stuck in the metro doors this way.no serious injury but it is embarrassing and people on the metro dislike the delay you caused. The Métro trains can't move while the doors are unlocked. -- Transpose hotmail and mxsmanic in my e-mail address to reach me directly. |
