We will be touring Europe for a few weeks, but will only be in Paris a few
days. I am looking for a fitness facility with weights as close to the
Montparnasse area as possible. The hotel room will be too tiny to attempt
an kind of exercise there and there is not fitness facility in the hotel.
The hotel said every gym nearby requires at least a 1 year membership
contract for use. They said we could take a 20 minute metro ride to the
Aquaboulevard facility and pay by the day there, but didn't know the cost.
How is Aquaboulevard and does anyone have better options that may be more
near the Montparnasse area?

You can't go for a few days without a fitness facility?

I lose weight when I only have public transportation to rely on.

If you weight train, it might not be the best to go a couple of weeks
without.

You won't get the kind of aerobic exercise to train you for a marathon
but you will get enough exercise if you're used to driving everywhere.

Last year in Italy I routinely walked 10-15 miles in a day, from
morning to post dinner...this isn't race-walking, just exploring over
the course of a day, and you'd be surprised how the miles add up. (I
took my pedometer because I was curious how much I would actually end
up walking.)

I might accept that you occasionally clock 15 miles in a day, but seriously doubt
that there are many people who can walk that far in a day. Bear in mind that some
people visiting Paris have been travelling around for a bit and may not have had the
chance to get their exercise. While walking is undoubtedly great exercise, they also
have regular exercise programs that involve particular muscle groups.

Yesterday I clocked 21 km just walking around Paris. That's 13 miles,
and I wasn't making any particular effort to rush or run up the meter.
