Grönroos
arranged some electrons, so they looked like
this:

... Absolutely. Actually accommodation is NOT expensive in Switzerland
by the ... Western European standards. For instance last summer when
visiting Zermatt, ... I booked in to a Zimmer frei room in the
neighbouring village of Täsch. The ... host charged me 25 francs a
night. I considered it a bargain.

"Zimmer frei" means "rooms available". Is it a sort of hotel in
Switzerland I don't know
about?

In Germany it means a room in a private home and I'd imagine it means the
same in German-speaking Switzerland.

They can be pretty good. The last one I stayed in, I had my own bathroom
and balcony, and the (two) zimmer-frei residents had their own dining
room, so it wasn't practically much different from staying in a hotel.

I've seen Zimmer Frei signs on small hotels/pensions/B&B in Germany and in

the
Netherlands.

In Belgium you'd see similar, except they say "Jacqueline Frei"...
