i tried to get a vietnam visa in Kiev.
It was a shocking experience.
The person in charge was so abusive could speak only russian or vietnamese
His behaviour was unbeliavable. Shouting at me and showing me to go and
wait. for what he only knows.

at the end I was tired of waiting asked another man. he told me he could me
a visa only one week before departure. ( he also did not speak any other
language than russian or vietnamese.. but was kind enough.. not to shout at
me.. )
I just took my passport and went away.
Hope that Viet nam is not that one..

Ont eh other one.. The Indonesia person in charge was extremely kind. made
a visa in a few minutes.

did anyone have such a bad experience with Vietnam consulates ??

Er, OK. You are in Russia trying to get a visa for Vietnam. What
other language should he speak?

I heard that in Russia people always shout at each other. At the
Vietnamese embassy in Kuala Lumpur I got the visa in about 10 minutes
(fee was 240 RM).

well. Kiev is no in Russia.. and I expect people of an embassy at least to
be polite. The Indonesian Officer was a real gentlemen. could speak a
flawless english.. and accepted Euros instead of Dollars.
why couldn't I get a Vietnam Visa in about 10 minutes as I did in the
Indonesian Embassy ??

No, you are not. The point is however, that they speak Russian there.

do you mean to say that the official language is Russian ??
If I am not mistaken again.. in all the states of former Russia.. the
official language was russian ( see the Baltic states )

though. the local language is Ukrainian. quite different from Russia.

they speak russian as you might speak english.
It was compulsory till a few years ago. ( end of former Sovier Union )
But it is not the official language.
I expect people in an Embassy or in a Consualte to have higher educational
levels.
Emabssies and Ambassadors should well represent their countries.

in the common spoken language.. one says.. you should be an ambassador of yr
country or of yr company..

Well, you have it all wrong.

This is not an argument. Regardless of what is official and what is not,
folks in Kiev speak Russian.
