Has anyone attempted to travel overland from india to thailand? I've
been advised that going through the indian/burma or bangladesh/burma
border is not possible. What about through nepal-tibet-china-vietnam, or
is this going to cause alot of grief?

That would take a looooong time!

A one-way flight from Kolkata to Bangkok is as low as US $110. From
Delhi or Mumbai to Bangkok it's around US $150. Unless you really
want to spend time in those other places it's probably better just to
fly. What time of year do you plan to do this (keeping in mind that
you're passing through the Himalayas and through parts of Asia that
get massive rainy seasons)?

Also, has anyone got a cheap local flight from indonesia to phillipines?

Air Asia?

I'm trying to book a flight from BKK to Delhi on December 11th and the
cheapest return ticket I could find is 15800 Baht (from a BKK travel
agent). Any suggestions on how to find a cheaper ticket ?

Sounds reasonable if it is by Thai Air.

Thai is fully booked on Dec 11th. This price is for Air India.
