http://www.achorizons.ca/en/issues/2...ary/relief.htm I think quite a few airlines have done the same. Big question is how much AC charged for the flight. Crews may have volunteered, but fuel didn't walk from the underground tanks to the aircraft's tanks by itself :-), especially not in Anchorage. I find it interesting that they would "bend the rules" and allow cargo in the passenger cabin and even have netting that fit over the seats. Shows that theer are people with imagination and ability to deviate from the "book" when necessary. (a good thing). I am surprised at the difference in cargo carried by AC's MD-11 (yes, AC now has MD-11s used for cargo) and the weakling 340. 190,000 lbs vs 90,000 lbs. Would the A340's outfitted cabin (toilets, galleys, seats) make up a large portion of this 100,000lbs cargo capacity difference ? (Or could also include windows if the MD-11 had its windows taken out). |
