Default group cruise booking question

Hi all, I used to frequest these boards in the past but have stopped
the past few years due to family, work, the usual excuse

Anyways, a group of friends and I (number still undetermined but
possibly around 15-20) are thinking about a short 3-4 day cruise next
summer. We already have the ship and itinerary in mind but would like
to ask you cruise vets if you have any suggestions as to who we should
book this group cruise from. Obviously a decent price is always a plus
as well as being taken cared of in the whole process.

I've personally been on 2 cruises previously but never with a group of
my buddies, so not really sure what all is involved. Any information is
truly appreciated. Thanks all in advance.

Default group cruise booking question

Well, since you already have the Cruise Line in mind I would suggest that you go
to their WEB Site and do a query. Get a list of local Agents from the Cruise
Line and talk to them. Nothing beats talking to someone personally and working
out all the details.

Hope it all works out and you and your friends have a great Cruise.

Default group cruise booking question

To get the best deal, go to:

http://www.CruiseCompete.com

This isn't a single travel agency, but rather a web site where you can
put in a request for what you want, then get multiple, competing quotes
from a bunch of different agencies. You can also read user-feedback to
decide which agencies you want to work with.

Good luck!

Default group cruise booking question

With enough advance notice, a travel agent may be able to arrange for a
discount or other services and perks for a group. There is the
possibility of tour conductor credit with a ratio of about 1:16 of tour
conductors to passengers. In some cases the ratio can be as low as
1:10. Some travel agents may claim the credit especially if they do
the work in pulling the group together or intend to go on the cruise.
Others may be happy to extend the credit to you or to the group,
especially if there is a point person that can help pull the group
together and if there are at least a few initial travelers willing to
put book early with a deposit.

However, depending on the cruise line, there may be restrictions on the
ability to take full advantage of group travel on a shorter cruise.
Princess, for example, doesn't offer tour conductor credits on short
cruises (6 days or less), and of the perks that can be negotiated by the
travel agent, discounts don't seem to apply to the shorter cruises either.

Out of 60 responses I made, I only got one booking. Not worth the
time or effort to me.

Because of the variablities and the new limits on groups from the
cruise lines, it's really hard to get a blind quote for a group.
