Default International car show, anyone?

I'm looking for a show to go to early next year that has (hopefully) the
largest amount of floor space that shows the most product, and an
opportunity to get close (driving optional) and examine the details of the
vehicles.

In the USA:
If your transport resources were not a limit, which show would you
go to?
If your resources limited you to the northeast and mid-atlantic
states, which show would you go to?

If you have any other interesting tidbits to tell about such a show,
please share. I'd be a first-timer.

I think the biggest auto shows are in Detroit and LA. I don't know if
you can test drive anything at these shows, unless you are a writer
from an industry rag.

Or you can dummy up some appropriate credentials...

You're not as stupid as you look, or sound, or our best testing indicates.

Having been to some very large car shows, I have come to the conclusion
that they're a waste of my time and money. The best car show can be
found in any area where there are a lot of auto dealers. Just go check
out the cars that interest you on dealers' parking lots. You might have
to talk to the occasional aggressive salesman, but its free and saying
"no" with a firm voice works wonders when you're asked if you need help.
