Well there is the obvious ones. Central Park, Empire State Building, Time
Square, Ground Zero. Maybe a trip on the Stattan Island ferry.

You get a great view of lower Manhattan and the Statue of
Liberty from the Staten Island Ferry. Another good thing about the Staten
Island Ferry is that it's FREE!! Can't beat that price! Somebody else
mentioned the Circle Line trip around Manhattan Island. Circle Line gives
you a wonderful overview of Manhattan Island - the guide points out things
of interest all along the way. I think you would enjoy this cruise and
would get to see a lot of sights.

Hi,
I'm travelling to New York from England in March 2005; my first time in the
States and my first time flying! I'm 18 and will be going with a group of
people of similar ages, so does anyone have any advice on good places for us
to visit? Which landmarks offer the best experience? Thanks for any help
you can offer me.

I found a small, pocketsize Michelin guide, called "New York City
Must-Sees", to be
very helpful. Easy and unobtrusive to carry, with great maps.
One of the high points of my recent trip was taking the subway to
Brooklyn, then walking back to Manhattan on the Brooklyn Bridge. Great
views.

New York City is amazing because you've already seen it so often in
films that it has a familiar feel. Since I grew up in Southern
California, I am used to watching movies and seeing places I recognized
from real life. In NYC, it was the opposite, as I was seeing places in
real life that I recognized from movies!

Janette, look through some of the local guides at this URL and then
get back to us with more specific questions:
