Default Willamsburg to Savannah - Sites

My wife and I will be driving Williamsburg to Savannah, probably on
I95. Wondering if you have any suggestions for interesting historic
or natural sites, photo ops, good southern BBQ, etc. on the way.

All suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,

Mike

Mike if time is not a consideration you might want to take US17 south a lot
of natural beauty, small and large towns and a good bit of History. Bad
thing about US 17 is that you have to go through these small towns and
cities, but for this you will have a more interesting drive.

If you have the time the old NC capital at New Bern is worth a visit.

With even more time wander out to Morehead City for the Sanitary Fish
Market for the best seafood you will find.

There is a nice welcome center in SC at the southern border. They have
some interesting local paintings for sale.

As a generality any time you can manage on roads closer to the coast is
well spent. Most of the good BBQ is closer to the mountains. There is
some wonderful seafood.
