Default RCI announces price protection

Just got this from Royal Caribbean on VIP CruisePass. Short line is

• Book anytime - guests are protected up until 72 hours prior to
departure
• Outside of final payment = Upgrade, onboard credit or price
reduction (refund if applicable)
• Inside final payment = Upgrade or onboard credit

So all the discussion on repricing is thrown overboard.

Also applies to groups. Offers that are for "new bookings only" don't
apply.

This should keep agents busy.

Translation: After final payment they won't give you a refund anymore.
Instead they will give you an onboard credit or an upgrade.

Unless everything is offered as "new bookings only".

And likely a non-refundable OBC, so if you don't spend it, or
use it for pre-paid gratuities, or pay the casino 3% to withdraw
it there, you lose it.

BTW I assume the choice of OBC or upgrade is the customer's and
not RCI's?

They were never required to do that per the cruise contract.
Instead they will give you an onboard credit or an upgrade.

No details. I think it depends on the amount. If it's as much or
more than the price for the upgrade, you get the upgrade (plus the OBC
for the diff). I'm trying to read the fine print, but cruisingpower
has been giving me fits.

Usually the big splashy things are "nbo", but I frequently see little
price drops.

The Tuesday deals are always new only.

Unlike so many "actors" in Hollywierd.

I saw him once at dinner, but he was eating so I didn't bother him.
