Baseball? What if they still had something to live for, and didn't want to

be
bored to death?

And IIRC the Astrodome (the BIG MODERN WONDER of 1968!) is shuttered and
slated for demolition...

In any case I certainly wouldn't recommend visiting Houston except as some
sort or penance...

Vin Scully, the Dodger broadcaster, told this story. Someone went to a
Dodger game and was totally bored. He said nothing happened at the game.
It was the game where Sandy Kolfax pitched a perfect game, and the opposing
pitcher pitched a one hitter.

At least I have to give props to baseball people for having a certain sort
of honesty: They admit a "perfect" game of baseball is one that has achieved
100% boringness in that not a single damn thing happens. I think
"archetypical" might be a slightly better word but I'm willing to let it go.

Yeah, not a surprise coming from you.

(Don't listen to Greg, he has some kind of bizarre vendetta against
Houston.)

There is plenty of good reason to visit Houston. Most of the comments
of visitors to the Super Bowl were very positive. NASA, Kemah,
downtown, the museum district are all worth seeing. If you don't have
the transportation, you can stay in or near downtown and use public
transportation to visit the museum district, Reliant Park, and walk to
the theater and entertainment district in downtown and Minute Maid
Park.

What a coincidence. Just this weekend I saw a t-shirt that spelled it out
for your sort. It said, "Baseball isn't boring. You are."
