This group appears to have died, almost. Where has everyone gone? It's not just this group, but the entire Usenet that's dying. Due to the lack of use, ISPs as well as the "Big One" Microsoft are terminating their hosting forcing users to find dedicated Usenet servers elsewhere. The Usenet like the BBS will soon be a relic of a bygone era. Obsolescence has always be the consequence of progress. Where are they going? Look at how fast all the "social network" sites have boomed in the past few years. New consumers with different tastes. Stef |

Sadly, this group was hijacked by a few obscene and uncontrolled
people who not only insulted everyone but also usurped peoples identities and it sent every normal person away. |

New consumers with different tastes. Stef Not all newsgroups have suffered the same fate as this one - yet. Yes, it may be coming, but at least not quite as apparent as what is happening here. A major reason why this particular newsgroup is being accelerated into almost oblivion, is from the antic of a troll called Ari Silverstein, or whatever his real name is. Using this fake name, Ari's premise is simple... "a lie is as good as the truth if he can get someone to believe it." But heed this warning; he has tried all of this before. Just look back on this newsgroups, and there he will be in all his pathetic ugliness. Yet, this time it is much worse. Out to undermine this newsgroups to the point that seemingly he alone appears to be the only authority on just about everything, and/or pretends he is trying to warn us of others, he not only fabricates all he says, but does much of it by stealing the identity of many others, including yours truly, as the means to this end. Unfortunately, because of these very antics by Ari, some of the regulars have already moved on to other forms of communication, or soon will be, including many of the travel agents. And after chasing them away by posting vile messages under their names, he chastises them for leaving the group. He then tries to fool readers here that he is the savior of the group - when in fact he is the person who has caused all the anarchy. Yet, maybe I'm not that easily scared off, for in spite of the likes of Ari, I continue, and will continue, to post related information on this newsgroup. Don't worry John, eventually he will screw up and will have his ISP turf his ass off their server. It's only a matter of time, many here are patiently waiting. Keep waiting, Bucko, it hasn't happened in over a decade and you know why? I am not in violation of any TOS of any ISP I have ever had. Which is the ultimate proof that your "Ari conspiracy" is a full of **** as you are, Stu-pid. -- Ari Silverstein, C.T.A; C.T.A.S, FREE Cruise Travel Advisory Services I never have nor ever will solicit or accept a booking. |

Believe what you will, but the growing and rapid decrease in Usenet traffic is systemic, and a harbinger of its eventual demise as a public forum. For example, 10 to 15 years ago rtc got a hundred or more messages every day. How many in the last 24 hours? 2 or 3 dozen? And the vast majority of those had nothing at all to do with cruising. Spammers, faster more focussed social networking sites have all contributed to Usenet's inevitable death. It's evolution - in progress! |
