What do you think is a TA's commission?
if my T/A didn't lie to us,
The policy varies in the fine point from cruise line to cruise line. Some pay zero on a cancelled res, others pay a reduced percentage on the penalty assessed. Nothing is EVER paid on "port charges" and government fees. The only way to circumvent this is for the TA to offer and have the client buy third party insurance, and then it has to be one that offers commission protection. Only then does the agent make commission on a cancelled res. Ask all who had to re-accommodate displaced passengers following Katrina, sometimes two or three times, only to have the booking cancel, how they are so familiar with the "no commission on cxl" policies.
