OK so lets take the SAME information from a TELEPHONE BOOK and then they use
the SAME SERVICE to add SSNs and what difference does it make? Are people upset because it was an airline that gave a pax list to someone? "Juliana L Holm" wrote in message ... As my phone number is unlisted, it would make a difference to me. The reason
we are upset is that people give personal information out which they had had gathered in a situation where it was SUPPOSED to be private, and did not even inform the affected people about it. now you make a point - I was mentioning "publicly available information" and
the "connecting of the dots". In the case of unpublished data, there IS a difference - but in reality, whatever "they" want, "they" will GET (and damned be the hindmost) Note that I dislike gummint "peering" with a passion, but there is patently NOTHING we can do to stop it "Juliana L Holm" wrote in message ... I can stop using services and products from companies which do this kind
of thing. Actually the government has laws about privacy, and must tell you when they take private data how it will be used. But private companies you have only the power of the pocketbook over. American slavery? {was: Jet Blue]

You are ready to become a slave; ready to accept an America not much different from Stalin's informant-riddled slave state. For Lubianka, substitute Gitmo; many Gitmos, on and off-shore. The slippery slope. For shame! The Founders must be spinning in their graves. That is what our "axis of evil" is counting on; citizens giving up and ceding power to the oilionnaire corporate state. -- Traveler "Juliana L Holm" wrote in message ...
