Default Four Star Hotels in NYC-Manhattan

Are there any readers on this group that have stayed in Manhattan, that
could recommend some good 4 star hotels in Manhattan (Near 42nd St) that
charge a reasonable room rate. Is $250 per nite the normal rate to pay??

How about transport from JFK Airport. Are there reliable bus/mini bus
companies that drop off at hotels in Manhattan.???

Shopping tips for womens clothing.
(My wife has all this money burning a hole in her pocket).

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I'd take a look at what Hotwire.com had to offer in the Times Square area.
Educate yourself on which hotels are which by matching attributes found at
betterbidding.com NY NYCNYC Hotel list where the hotels and there
offerings are listed.

Not a problem, google this. "Super Shuttle" will likely work for you.

I'm a 3 star person myself, but $250 for a 4 star is very good, as we
paid $200 for a 3 star (but it was a large room by NYC standards, and
the hotel included breakfast and wireless). Check Venere.com and
quikbook.com for prices as well.

Just avoid Super Shuttle. Personally I'd take the Air Train and the
subway or the Air Train and the LIRR.

I prefer to shop at B&H when I'm in Manhattan.

I took a Carey bus ("limousine"). The big bus takes you to Grand
Central, and smaller vans take you to the midtown hotels (roughly 32nd
to Central Park South). I seem to recall that they would also pick
you up at a midtown hotel and bring you to GCT, but I walked. I also
believe that there was a small discount for buying a round-trip
ticket. It was about $20 each way, more expensive than AirTrain and
the subway, but cheaper than a taxi (for 1-2 people).

Shopping tips for womens clothing.

You'd need to be more specific about her budget, style preferences,
age group, etc. (Unless she just wants a big department store.)

She likes big Department stores. We might try Woodbury Common.

Macy's and Bloomingdale's could tie her up for a good, long time.
