Considering Disney World for Honeymoon, first timers

I wouldnt recommend staying 2-3 weeks , think about
spending a week there and the remaining time elsewhere.

The gulf area around Sarasota is very nice as are the Keys
and you could go a little further afield and have a week
in New Orleans for a really unforgettable honeymoon

Dont even think about going in August, its hot , wet and humid

Late September or October is better although there is
a small chance of getting hit by a tropical storm or Hurricane.

Keith

I agree wholeheartedly with Keith. Since any car you rent will come with
unlimited mileage I'd do a week on-site at Disney then a week in New Orleans
then a week in the Keys. Good Luck.

Sod it, I want to go.

Sometimes you just get to see the sun rise over the next baobab tree.

But that's good enough.

Especially when the kill is fresh.

Having made a 30-day camping safari around Tanzania, including camping in
Ngorongoro Crater, several days climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, etc., I still
recommend a nice relaxing, comfortable 2-3 week WDW vacation for a
honeymoon. Though exploring Tanzania was the real deal, so were blood
sucking tsetse flies, lack of sanitation facilities, unsafe food and water,
etc. Save the African adventure trip for a wedding anniversary.-Bill Brown

If you go to the DIS website (yes it's large) you will find just about
everything you want broken down into trip planning segments.

http://disboards.com/index.php?s=

It also has a UK forum which might be the first place for you to check
for frequently asked questions, recommendations, etc.

I definitely recommend going off season (late Oct - Dec) Park hours
will be shorter, but the tradeoff is much smaller crowds.

There are of LOT of UK residents who make annual trips to Disneyworld
and Florida and they should be able to guide you with specialized
advice.

We are geting married next August (2004)

We have no children

Congratulations. It is nice to stay a bit childish even when you are a
grown up.Hope you will have a great time. There are plenty of things to
do for children and big-big children

I would recommend the following:

---A stay during early May; the weather is nice, the crowds aren't as
heavy, and they're training people for the summer season.

---Reading Bob Sehlinger's Unofficial Guide to WDW for the full scope
of possibilities.

---If you stay offsite, you may save money, but there's a car rental,
paying for parking, and the time wasted driving to and from (and the
inefficiency of EVERY shuttle bus). Plus the fact that you can't
charge back to your room, or have your packages delivered to your
hotel, or use the early entry privleges.

---For the last week (assuming a 3-week stay), or at least the last
4-5 days, use a towncar to switch over to a Univeral resort, and see
that set of parks. Entirely different, and some really amazing stuff.

---Romance: a room at the Polynesian. Runners up: Yacht & Beach.
At Universal, the Portofino Bay is about as romantic as you can get;
wow.

---Pricey, but check out the possibility of honeymoon suites for part
of your stay. And wherever you go, tell them it's your honeymoon.

Default Disney World (Honeymoon) for UK couple

My son and his wife (just got married Nov.22nd) are down at Disney right
now - they took a 2-night "quick-trip" away when they got married and went
on their "official" honeymoom this past Thursday. Will be back on the 12th.

He emailed me from the Magic Kingdom (via his cell phone) and said that
there was NOBODY down there - the longest they waited in any line was 10
minutes.
They are staying at the Polynesian. Tried to get in at the Grand Floridian,
but it was booked. He said the rooms aren't anything great - but the grounds
were pretty. He said that most (or all, he thought) of the rooms have 2
beds. He said somehow he fell out of the bed last night and took all the
covers with him. Wife got made because of no cover so she went to the other
bed (my hubby said 'honeymoon's already over - hahha!)

They got a special honeymoon package through a travel agent - seems like it
was right at close to $3000 or a little less for a week's stay with all
inclusive everything. They flew down and are using the transportation
between the parks.

I'll give you a report when they get back.....

Considering Disney World for Honeymoon, first timers

Not necessarily going August, anytime Sept to March 2005

Best dates to go to avoid crowds.

Probably stay in a Disney Hotel

Or is rental home with pool nearby best bet

May stay 2-3 weeks

Travelling from Manchester UK

How long to stay for, what else is worth visiting nearby

Any and all advice accepted

A concise travel info website would be welcome, without having to trawl
through Disney ones, they go on forever.

Thanks
