There are two different situations. One is where a passenger has booked a
flight with the airline. In the case of force majeure such as a natural
disaster like the volcano, the passenger is entitled to a refund or free
rebooking, but not much else. The rules are covered by European
legislation:

If the flight is taking place as part of a package tour, then the
passenger has a contract with the tour operator, not the airline. It then
all depends what is in the small print in the contract with the tour
operator.
However, the tour operator can simply cancel the contract, citing force
majeure.


Not for the return half they can't

Not yet Tim..but given the way things are working against pax these
