Everglades cruise/boat tours

Hi,
Sorry to continue this dialogue. We are visiting the Everglades next
February and will be staying for a night
at Flamingo Lodge.
Can anyone give us guidance as to which cruises and other activities it is
worth doing. We have heard that a sunset cruise is good - especially for
bird watching.

Ranger activities and guided walks have been severly curtailed because of
budet problems, but it is the high season so you should have a few good
choices through the visitor center. Any of the ponds along the main park
road will have numerous photographers and birders who will be infomrative
and generally friendly as long as you're quiet and don't bump into the
equipment. There are several hiking trails near Flamingo, also.

Haven't taken the cruises, but for exceptional bird watching and bird
photography I highly recommend the Anhinga Trail, which is not far from the
park entrance. You'll be within a few feet of gators and dozens of species of
birds. "Trail" is misleading since part of it is an old paved road and part a
wooden boardwalk, and easy to walk.
