Magnetic Island

Is this a good place to stay and relax?
I plan to spend 4 to 5 days here with my girlfriend there around
Christmas this year. We're ideally looking to get away from it all and
to have the chance to explore the reef.

Previously I have stayed on Hamilton Island (Whitsunday's) and was
rather unimpressed - very commercial, tacky, - beaches were nothing
special.

Advice from anyone who has visited Magnetic Island would be much
appreciated.
