Default Summer cheap air tix SFO-London

I'd like to take the family from SFO to Europe this summer. The cheapest
airfare including tax I can find using Orbitz, Kayak and the like is just
over $1000 each. Any thoughts on how to get a good deal on air from SFO to
anywhere in Europe in July?

I've got news for you: a thousand bucks from SFO to Europe in July is
as cheap as you're likely to find. Yahoo Farechase found a wacky $972
fare going out on AA changing at JFK, coming back on VS to Las Vegas
and US back to SJC.

If you feel like spending a very long day driving up to Vancouver, you
can probably find tix to London for US$875 on Air Transat, but unless
you have a very large family, the cost of driving will be more than
you save.

If you want to spend less and see more, don't go in the summer. If
you can go in April or October, it's not hard to find fares under
$500.

R's,
John

My wife recently booked non-stop on Virgin (out in April, back in May)
for $700 without any flexibility on travel days. If you're able to
change your travel date, and/or prepared to make a connection, it's a
litle cheaper.

July is an extremely busy season for travel to Europe.
You might find the $1000 fares to have been reasonable if you decide to
put this off for too long.

You might want to check out consolidators and charter sales agents.

The price you have been quoted is a good deal for July/August travel. If you
fly before mid-June, or in September, you will get a much lower fare.

You're aiming for the high holiday season, so if price is important,
consider a trip during the off season. You can probably save a bundle
that way.
