Default Locker service

Are there any locker services in DC Union station ?? I need to deposit my
luggage for about 5 hrs so that I could tour around the area (without having
to lug my baggage around) before taking a flight in the evening. If so,
where and any idea how much? Thanks.

With the terrorism issue, I don't think there are any more lockers anywhere.

I'll try to check this afternoon. I catch the metro there daily.

However, as someone else said, DC is pretty darn sensitive about terrorism,
and the days of left luggagge may be over.

I had a similar situation earlier this year and didn't see any such
facility in the station. On the other hand, I didn't actually ask,
just looked at station diagrams, so I may have missed something.

When I got to the National Museum of Natural History, I found that
they *did* have lockers in the museum. You have to pass a security
check to enter the building, so I guess they figure that's sufficient.
What's more, admission to the museum is free (since it's part of the
Smithsonian) and the lockers are also free (25-cent deposit required).

So if the museum is on your tour route and will be open when you arrive
*and* when you leave, that's a possible solution -- if your baggage is
small, as mine was. I don't imagine the security people would be too
happy with a big suitcase being brought through, and I think most of
the lockers were fairly small also.

(The two other Smithsonian museums I was in on that trip didn't have
lockers. Maybe there are still others that do.)

I had a similar experience in Tampa, Fl after a cruise. I found that
The Florida Aquarium (in Tampa) will store cruise passenger's luggage at
no extra charge. You just pay the entrance fee, with in/out privileges
all day.
