Just back from Celebrity Solstice...we're raving!
Welcome back Diana, glad you guys had a great time on Solstice. *Too bad
we couldn't work the sailing into our schedules... would have been fun sailing with you guys again. --Tom I thought of you & the rest of our Liberty OTS inaugural bunch several times, especially during the 70's dance party! I am confident you will be impressed by what Celebrity's done with this class because you and my husband are two of the pickiest...ahem, discriminating...people I know, and he gave it two thumbs up! We had the SOLSTICE docked next to us,we probably passed each other on our walks. I do believe the day we were docked alongside was St. Maarten, wasn't it? Or maybe San Juan. Doggone it, we could've met for a drink at the cruise terminal. It is funny you remark on places to sit and relax. Remember how Jeff C likes to take pictures of carpet and stuff? Well, I did a silly little photo thing this time and walked around taking pictures of the great places to sit...because one of the first and lasting impressions I had of the Solstice was how many great seating areas there were all over the ship. And comfortable, too--lots of padding and cushions, lots of loungers and couches. I think you like the traditional teak loungers on the promenade deck--and they had good cushions on them. On the top decks, there were several different kinds of chairs with footrests around the pools, in the sunning areas and on the grassy lawn unique to this class of ship (which I loved--hard to explain, but I thought it added a very natural, soothing element). Okay, I missed the blintzes...where were they?! I loved the Solarium, too, and managed to score one of those papasans every time I just wanted to curl up with my book. Wow, I didn't know you and George were doing a repeat of the Valentine's group cruise--and on the baby sister Eclipse. That is really sweet! What a great class of ship for friends to enjoy together, too. Diana On the Solstice, they had blintzes on the breakfast buffet. I saw them a couple of times, but I did not try them until the end of the cruise. I was doing very well on my diet, but on that day, I folded like a cheap lawn chair. lol I was hoping to find blintzes on the Eclipse. On the Oasis of the Seas, they have the same papasans that we saw on the Solstice. I enjoyed those, too. I was surprised to see the Solarium on the Oasis, look so similar to the decor of the Solstice. The Solarium is larger on the Oasis, since it is a bigger ship with more passengers. Look at the photos on Page 5, you will see the similarities. You can see the spa dining area, hot tubs, etc. http://cruisingator.smugmug.com/Othe...71467370_NWhqm Becca |

I prefer the bed by the balcony instead of the closet, but they can not tell you the configuration of your cabin. I say phooey to that. lol Becca |

I just haven't had time/energy or desire to look into it yet. I also prefer the bed by the balcony, but the bed by the closet isn't all that horrible. The hot tubs on the Solstice did not have enough room for your feet, how was it on the Oasis? In our experience RCCL has the best hot tubs around, enough leg/foot room and hot enough. sue |

On the Oasis, you do not push the buttons to turn it on, you just wave your hand over it. They have plenty of hot tubs on the Oasis. After Lori tosses in her hot tub toys, I am sure we won't have a problem finding one all to ourselves. ;-) Kevin has been through so much, I hope he is feeling better. Becca |

Please take me to those hot tubs right now.LOL I am glad to hear foot room is not a problem, that was the one negative on the Solstice, but then RCCL has always had great hot tube. Love just having to wave your hand, great improvement. Not only will we scare others away with the toys, we will have room for lots of people and still have room for toys. Kevin's broken wrist isn't hurting too badly, he does have a high tolerance for pain. He is so frustrated having to stay home at least for two weeks and not being allowed to do ANY work from home. Legally he can not even talk to anyone about work. I hope in the next day or so to write an update and send it to the usual list of friends. sue |
