3. Stop somewhere every day.
I actually prefer the days at sea... I'd be tempted to suggest fewer ports-of-call. "fradybunch" wrote in message ... 1. Stay in port as long as possible. Why, when it only takes a couple hours sailing time to get to the next port, do they rush out of port only to float around all night? 2. Let everyone drink what they brought on board, whether it be liquor, beer, or whether you brought it from home or bought it in a port. 3. Stop somewhere every day. This closely relates to #1. If the next day is a sea day, but it doesn't take a whole day to sail to the next destination, why leave? Spend the night docked and let the people have a chance to experience nightlife of the island. Sandi |

Three Things You Want The Cruise Lines To Know!
Jean O'Boyle wrote:
If the movers and shakers in cruise lines were listening right now, what THREE things would you like them to hear? My last cruise was the Mariner of the Seas 3/7. 1) Announcements. I have no interest in hearing the captain's voice over the loud speaker 4-5 times a day. I do not need to know the lattitude and the longitude of the ship. I am not interested in knowing what the azipods are doing. One day, he interrupted my book to explain what the engineers were doing. After his 2nd or 3rd announcement during the day, I was getting a little tired of hearing from him. It was a first for me, to hear the captain making announcements all day. 2) Traffic Flow. On the Promenade, it was difficult to walk from the dining room to the showroom lounge because of activities such as performing clowns and the captain's party. We were jammed in the middle of the crowd, listening to the captain talk on the microphone. Generally, I do not go to the captain's party or the repeaters party but on the Mariner, it was hard to avoid since it was in the middle of the Promenade. 3) Apologies. The Mariner was late. The ship was in port at 10:00am, that is when I saw the ship. We did not get on the ship until after 5:00. Since the ship was sitting there all day, it would have been nice if they had typed up a small note of apology and delivered it to our cabins. No apology was delivered, we just heard that they were late because of a heart attack on the day before. Most of us waited at the terminal for over 7 hours, standing out in the sun without a place to sit or food to eat. You can imagine how the people with small children endured this situation. A simple written apology would have done wonders. People get sick, RCI could not help that, but they knew all night they would be late, and still they handled it poorly. I am not upset over what happened, I am upset becaue they were not concerned. Becca -----still had a fun cruise... Three Things You Want The Cruise Lines To Know!
1. Keep children out of the hot tubs, casinos and the showroom's front
seats 2. Enforce the rule about saving seats at the pool and in the showroom 3. Give the upgrades to those who reserve a year ahead instead of the ones who book guarantees Candy -- loves upgrades Jean O'Boyle wrote: If the movers and shakers in cruise lines were listening right now, what THREE things would you like them to hear? |

Three Things You Want The Cruise Lines To Know!
Hmmm... for me it would be different things for different
lines - and I know my priorities are not necessarily the same as everyone else's. But here goes: 1. Don't spread the dining room staff too thin. I like a leisurely dinner, but I also like to get to the show afterward and I don't like seeing some poor table steward worn to a frazzle trying to serve one too many tables. I think it's also unfair to make them give skimpy service when it impacts their tips - a significant part of their livelihood. 2. Don't be tacky about the towels. So you lose a beach towel now and then. I'll bet that costs less than accounting for them so obsessively you annoy the passengers and stewards. HAL does it right. 3. I get announcements of last-minute specials often, but they never say what the single supplement is. Tell me - I might be interested, and wouldn't you rather have me solo than an empty cabin? I am also strongly in favor of wrap-around promenade decks. If I were addressing Celebrity specifically, I'd say at lunch have decent-sized iced tea glasses and people coming around to refill them, so I don't have to go get my own refill and return to find my place has been cleared. 1. Stop nickel and diming and offer the quality of food in the dining room
that is being offered in the *pay for extra* specialty restaurants that are being added on ships. Good quality food should be part of the cruise without paying extra for it. So then you would be in favor of a steep increase in fares? Because that's the tradeoff. Warren remove the drink to email Y |

Fradybunch, the reason that they float around all night is that if they
didn't, you would be spending your money in port intead of on the ship! Drew "fradybunch" wrote in message ... 1. Stay in port as long as possible. Jean O'Boyle wrote: If the movers and shakers in cruise lines were listening right now, what THREE things would you like them to hear? Mine would be: 1. Stop nickel and diming and offer the quality of food in the dining room that is being offered in the *pay for extra* specialty restaurants that are being added on ships. Good quality food should be part of the cruise without paying extra for it. 2. Stop the constant announcements hawking and sales pitches while on board. The only announcements I would like to hear are, emergency or important information and a gentle dinner bell announcing that dinner is about to be served. The captain's message at noon is what I consider as one of the important messages. 3. Bedspreads should always be changed and washed between sailings. --Jean Good thread, Jean! 1) Keep up the trend of east coast departure points (Philly, BMore for instance) 2) More cultural lectures, less trying to sell me gold by the inch. 3) Make booking directly with you easy, convenient, and less expensive. -- Margaret Fine |
