Default Three Things You Want The Cruise Lines To Know!

On 03/24/2004 8:27 PM Surfer E2468, committed to scribbelage:

Places to sit on deck, somewhere beside's pool area, and upper deck in hot
sun.

Holland America does that on Veendam and some of their other ships.
They have classic wood lounges on the covered Promenade. They are in
partial shade and cooled by the sea breeze as the ship glides on its course.

Default Three Things You Want The Cruise Lines To Know!

On 03/24/2004 5:27 PM Jean O'Boyle, committed to scribbelage:

If the movers and shakers in cruise lines were listening right now, what
THREE things would you like them to hear?

Mine would be:
1. Stop nickel and diming and offer the quality of food in the dining room
that is being offered in the *pay for extra* specialty restaurants that are
being added on ships. Good quality food should be part of the cruise without
paying extra for it.

2. Stop the constant announcements hawking and sales pitches while on board.
The only announcements I would like to hear are, emergency or important
information and a gentle dinner bell announcing that dinner is about to be
served. The captain's message at noon is what I consider as one of the
important messages.

3. Bedspreads should always be changed and washed between sailings.

--Jean

1.) For us single folk give us a break on some cruises with lower single
suppliments (fine for being single.)

2) In ports that are known for night life, arrive a little later and
stay a little longer. When I am on vacation I don't want to have to get
up at 8:00 am to join an excursion at 8:30 am. Why not have a special
late riser's cruise where port activity starts at 1:30pm and ends at
1:00 am?

3) I love being pampered and fussed over but I am capable of filling my
ice bucket a lot faster by myself. How about some descretly placed Ice
machines in the passenger cabin areas?

Put laundramats on ship

QM2 has laundromats on almost every deck.

1) Enforce the rules regarding children. Keep them out of the adult
pools, hot tubs and disco.
2)Enforce the deck chair saving policy.
3)Enforce the dress code on formal nights.

I realize this, but I still don't like it!

Sandi

Fradybunch, the reason that they float around all night is that if they
didn't, you would be spending your money in port intead of on the ship!

3. Stop somewhere every day.

I actually prefer the days at sea... I'd be tempted to suggest fewer
ports-of-call.

I'm with you - more sea days, less port days.

1. Stay in port as long as possible. Why, when it only takes a couple
hours sailing time to get to the next port, do they rush out of port only

to
float around all night?

2. Let everyone drink what they brought on board, whether it be liquor,
beer, or whether you brought it from home or bought it in a port.

3. Stop somewhere every day. This closely relates to #1. If the next

day
is a sea day, but it doesn't take a whole day to sail to the next
destination, why leave? Spend the night docked and let the people have a
chance to experience nightlife of the island.

3) Come up with a meaningful past passenger program that includes discounts
on ALL cruises... even if only a small discount. Make a gesture that you
want these people's repeat business.

I don't know about others but no amount of discounts will keep me
loyal to a line that doesn't maintain its identity and quality and is
reasonably consistent.

If the movers and shakers in cruise lines were listening right now, what
THREE things would you like them to hear?

1) reward early bookings with the discounts and upgrades

2) don't stretch the dining room staff too thin - the staff are starting to
forget and confuse requests. they are only human

3)PR training should be a priority. the trend toward -"Whatever"- is getting
worse. the attitude of the staff and crew on my last cruise was pretty
obnoxious
