Carnival Conquest Review, 5/9 Sailing--LLLOOOONNNGGG!!!
"RTCReferee" wrote in message ... wrote: The only negative I can offer is DEFINITELY NOT Carnival's fault. On the day that the "Nation" line featured Caribbean fare, I watched in horror as one lady, who had no idea what Pepper Stew tasted like, took the serving spoon from the serving pan, tasted it, and offered a taste to her friend, then put the spoon back in the pan!!!! I turned and walked away If I had witnessed that, I would not have only protected myself by walking away, but made certain that no other passenger (including those who did not see what you saw, those coming later, etc.) could come into contact with that spoon or the food in the vicinity of it. At the very least, I would have insisted that area of the food be tossed out, if not the whole pan. That's just for a start. And I would have "spoken to" the selfish lady privately and suggested that if she wanted to sample something in the future, that she should ask for a "paper cup" or similar and tasted it on her plate, on her tray, with her spoon. I would also speak to the staff or manager about what happened. We need to take care of each other, folks. If something offensive like this happens, please don't just walk away. I think what I'd have done (just guessing, since I wasn't there... and you know how you do things differently at the spur of the moment) would have been to take the spoon out of the dish and put in where no-one else could use it (like maybe drop it on the floor). Then I'd have called the nearest crew member and explained what happened, so he/she could take the dish away. I doubt I'd have said anything to the lady... I tend to not be one-on-one confrontational in that kind of place. But I'd have gotten the dish taken away - how ever I had to get it done. What I would hope for is that when they take the dish away, that they don't just add more stuff, straighten it out, make it look good, and put it out again later. --Tom |

It is fair to warn anyone else in the line about what she did. And I think if she is publicly embarrassed that would be good. Then hopefully she would not do it in the future. -- Charles |

magnetic strip on the back can be used (old phone card, blockbuster card, ect.). I have been using an old sail and sign card from about 8 years ago that I keep in my shaving kit just for such safe uses. Great idea, Rick. Becca -----likes hearing these great ideas... If she is not made aware of how her actions affect other people, she will continue to engage in the inappropriate and unhealthy behavior. My goal is to enable her to change her behavior for the benefit of everyone, including herself. I was thinking... what if she's one of those cooks at home like those 2 Italian Ladies on TV that are always tasting the food while she's cooking it. Maybe she doesn't even see anything wrong with that. --Tom Aside from the more important reasons for doing this, It is likely that the friend who was accompanying her will be telling their mutual friends back home what she did, and that story is unlikely to be told in a manner flattering to the offender. We may be lucky and the woman responsible for the action may be seeing her behavior mentioned on the Internet. If not she, perhaps someone else may benefit and won't make the same error. |
