Himba communities are not so hard to reach.
Mursi, from what a friend tells me, are much
more difficult. But, what is your point? These
people are not like animals in a zoo, where you
can just drop in and 'see' them. Do total
strangers come to your house and ask to
watch you go about your daily life?

Hallo Jones - I can not speak about Ethiopia but perhaps and opinion on the
Himba can help you. I think the key word is "interesting". What exactly
would you like to do or see when visiting these peoples? You are more than
welcome to write me directly as I have been actively involved with social
development projects amongst the Himba since 1984.

Greetings
Koos

Jones,

We visited them both.
If you like to make photographs, both are excellent!
Himba can be met in the village Opuwo in the Northern part of Namibia,
but better is to ask a guide in Sesfontein (make reservations in
advance), situated in a remote area and you need a good car (4x4WD
preferable)
We just returned from a trip to Ethiopia.
Musi is hard to find (take an organised trip or at least a good
guide/driver who is familiar to this tribe). The reason is that this
tribe is (still) often on warpath with other tribes as Konso etc. They
are really "wild" and we had some (anxious) problems with them!! But if
you visit them you can make very very nice pic's!
They are living in a remote area, the trip to there is very hot and you
will met also the Tse Tse- fly (only active in the morning).
For pic's about Himba see our website:

Photo's from Mursi will be added later on our website

If you like to have more info contact me.
