best christmas destinations in the US

I'm looking ahead to next year and thinking of where our family of 2
adults and 2 teens can spend Christmas. What are some of your favorite
US holiday destinations other than beaches (we live in FL) ?

Are you looking for SNOW ?? Come a little farther north to the
Maritimes...otherwise the NE states should be decent. I hear Vermont / New
Hampshire are good spots...

I think Manhattan is great at Christmas. Lively streets with nice
decorations, lots of concerts, many of them free, and all the other
great things you can enjoy in New York.

Mine? Home. But in the travel sense, probably some place
where I wouldn't have to deal with tourists, so the major ski
areas would be out. Warm places would be crowded. Chicago might
be interesting. You could probably get really good deals in places
like Pennsylvania around the Poconos if anything was open.
Philly actually might be a really good idea. Not many tourists,
but most of the tourist activities would still be open (museums
and all). For that matter the whole DC/Maryland area might
be something to explore. Day trips out to Gettysburg and the
Bay and maybe even down to Williamsburg. Winter is extremely
mild there sometimes and you might have fairly pleasant weather.
Plus, if you didn't, you've got about 400 hours worth of Smithsonian
museums to visit.

Since this is r.t.u-c I presume you're not too interested in London,
although you might be able to do some sorta Dickensonian kinda thing if
you looked hard enough.
