BEWARE the smokers in FRANCE !
In France, 80% of people that go to jail are smokers.
http://hcsp.ensp.fr/hcspi/docspdf/ad...4/ad442125.pdf So the percentage of smokers among offenders is 80%, so the conditional probability to go to jail IF I'm smoker is 3,2 times bigger than if I belong to the polulation in general. (considering that 25% of the french population smoke and there are 60 000 imprisonments out of 60 millions French people). The percentage of offenders among smokers is 0,32% (48000 out of 15 millions) Moreover, we can say that the percentage of offenders among non-smokers is 0.027% (12000 out of 45 millions) So, if we choose at random a smoker, we have 12 time more risk to find an offender that if we choose among non-smokers. |

no, unfortunately they don't ... and it's very difficult to find a
restaurant in this country that has a really non-smoking room, excepted in the chain "Buffalo Grill", where there is always a non-smoking room. But when you go to one of these restaurants on saturday evening, the non-smoking room is often full, whereas there are always places available in the smoking room !! why ? because non-smokers take refuge in the Buffalo Grill ! |

BEWARE the smokers in FRANCE !

How do you know it isn't the other way around - that going to jail
encourages people to smoke?
