Default Cheap flights from coast to coast

Hi,

I know that in USA there is no low cost flight companies like in Europe, but
does anyone knows the cheapest way to travel from Florida to California with
the plane? And with what company and for what price? I plan to travel from
Orlando to Los Angeles (or Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Jose because these
are all towns I want to visit).

Thank you for your help

Best regards

In the U.S., what's cheapest depends on the date you travel, the
day of the week, the time of day, if a holiday is involved, when
you price yout ticket and the phase of the moon. So, you need
to search using a meta-site, like www.sidestep.com or
www.mobissimo.com, and also check a few lower-cost airlines,
such as www.frontierairlines.com, www.southwest.com,
www.jetblue/com and www.airtran.com, who may have fares
not published on the search-sites.

There's quite a bit of distance between some of the those cities (for
example, it's around 570 miles from San Francisco to Las Vegas), so
you might want to use 2 different airports so you don't have to drive
all the way back to the same airport for your flight home.

(For example, fly from Orlando to Las Vegas, get a rental car and
visit the varies cities ending in San Francisco, and then fly home out
of the San Francisco airport so you don't have to drive back to Las
Vegas.)

If you are visiting the USA from overseas, often the cheapest domestic
flights can be had by having your travel agent book them as add-ons to
your international flight and put them on the same ticket. For example:

Leg 1: London to Orlando
Leg 2: Orlando to San Francisco
Leg 3: San Francisco to London

A decent travel agent who specializes in this kind if itinerary can
often get you the above, on a single ticket, for far less than what you
would pay by having it booked on separate tickets.

Jet Blue tends to be the cheapest for coast to coast travel lately, but
only for their flights that don't connect through JFK (New York). My
mother just booked flights from FLL to SFO, and it was around $330 r/t,
inclusive of taxes and fees.

Check sidestep.com for comparison fares. Southwest doesn't appear on
Sidestep, but for coast to coast flights Southwest is usually not a good
deal anyway.
