Goodness PJ, you really are just a liar.

Medicare (United States)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Medicare is a national social insurance program, administered by the
U.S. federal government since 1965, that guarantees access to health
insurance for Americans ages 65 and older and younger people with
disabilities as well as people with end stage renal disease. As a
social insurance program, Medicare spreads the financial risk
associated with illness across society to protect everyone,

Oh shut up you buffoon, *we all know US free medical care is neither
free nor terribly good.

If it was the USA would have higher life expectancy figures than
Europe, *and it doesn't...

You're simply wrong.

From the age of 66, life expectancy for both males and females is
better in the US than in Europe... And it never looks back. This is in
fact, a direct reflection on the quality of healthcare, as it focuses
in on the years were most people require medical services and factors
out many other causes of death not associated with quality healthcare.

Backing out homicides and death from fatal accidents for all
countries
in a comparison then indicates the US has the highest overall life
expectancies in the world.

Cite please.

Just google: "The myth of Americans' poor life expectancy"

You made the claim, you get to produce the statistics son.

Now **** or get off the pot...

Just another computer illiterate on usenet who can't get it together
to do a simple google search. I figured as much.

It's right he

But 1999 was almost 14 years ago!

So why does the CIA fact book say I'm right?

FYI, the USA is the ONLY "developed" country in the world that does not
regard universal health care as a right for all citizens, not a
privilege for the wealthy.
Rubbish. You are just broadcasting your gullibility by swallowing the
anti American bias that infests Usenet.

Well, I AM an American, so I reserve the right to criticize what I
perceive as the growing inequities in our alleged "democracy".

EXCUSE ME!!!!! The US government isn't "paying" for ANYTHING - Medicare
represents payroll tax money we (and our employers) paid into a trust
fund for anticipated medical expenses, post retirement! Every developed
nation except the US covers ALL its citizens under a similar
arrangement. (I find it interesting that most of the criticisms of
"universal" medical care that I see come from people who have no
first-hand experience of it, whereas my internet friends in countries
that provide it seem perfectly happy to have it.)

You are living in a lala land of your own imagined Socialist utopia,
lady.

Here is what wikipedia tells you about the reality of the finances of
medica

"wikipedia Medicare (US)...

....And, as is too frequently the case, Wikipedia (being largely written
by people with insufficient knowledge) is mistaken!

"wikipedia Medicare (US)...

...Unfunded obligation

Medicare’s unfunded obligation is the total amount of money that would
have to be set aside today such that the principal and interest would
cover the gap between projected Part A revenues and spending over a
given timeframe. As of 2009, Medicare’s unfunded obligation over an
infinite timeframe was $36 trillion....".

...And, as is too frequently the case, Wikipedia (being largely written

Lady, wiki is merely reporting the governmant's own internal figures
reported in:

2011 ANNUAL REPORT OF
THE BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF THE
FEDERAL HOSPITAL INSURANCE AND
FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTARY MEDICAL INSURANCE
TRUST FUNDS

https://www.cms.gov/Research-Statist...ads/tr2011.pdf

excerpt page 228

".. the present value of the additional resources that would be needed
to meet projected
expenditures, at current-law levels for the three programs combined,
is $33.8 trillion...."

Lady, $33.8 trill of unfunded government obligations is
$33,800,000,000,000.00.

The government's corporate police, The Securities Exchange Commisiion,
would demand that a public corporation declare immediate bancrupcy if
it so reported an UNFUNDED obligation of this magnitude in its annual
report.
