Day 1- Wednesday, June 20, 2007- DEPARTURE
Depart
Day 2-Thursday, June 21, 2007- WELCOME TO ISRAEL
Morning arrival at Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to Jerusalem....
Celebrate your arrival to Jerusalem with a Shehecheyanu ceremony
overlooking the walls of the Old City...This afternoon we enjoy a tour
of Jerusalem's Old City, including the Kotel (Western Wall) and
tunnels, an awe-inspiring journey through time, and keyhole to
Jerusalem's past.... Overnight in Jerusalem Kings Hotel
Day 3- Friday, June 22, 2007- THE OLD CITY -WELCOME SHABBAT
Breakfast... This morning we connect with our ancestral roots as we
touch the ancient stones in the Old City of Jerusalem. We walk through
the Jewish Quarter... Enjoy shopping at the historic shopping promenade
along the Cardo, the heart of the Old City....Visit Hezekiah's Water
Tunnels...Time to rest and freshen up at the hotel before we welcome
Shabbat together as a community at the Kotel... Enjoy Shabbat dinner
together this evening at our hotel.... Overnight in Jerusalem Kings
Hotel.
Day 4- Saturday, June 23, 2007- THE DEAD SEA BASIN
Early this morning we begin our travels south through the Judean
Desert...We stop at the Qumran caves for an explanation of the discovery
of the Dead Sea Scrolls... We then enjoy a hike at Nahal Arugot... Then
enjoy some well-deserved R&R with an afternoon at Ein Gedi- spa
facilities are available for those wishing some extra pampering... This
evening we enjoy a lecture about the history of the kibbutz and
kibbutz life... Dinner and overnight at Kibbutz Ein Gedi.
Day 5- Sunday, June 24, 2007- MASADA
Early this morning we enjoy a sunrise climb up Masada to explore the
extensive excavations of the 2000 year old palace and hear the story
of the Jewish Zealots who made the summit their last stand against the
Romans...After descending via cable car, we enjoy a short stop at Ein
Bokek for ice cream and shopping and then continue to the Dead Sea for
an unsinkable swim in the salty waters of the sea....In the afternoon we
enjoy mountain biking at Mt. Sdom.... We continue to Sfinat Hamidbar for
a camel ride and Bedouin Hafla... The evening ends with a starlit hike
and campfire... Overnight Bedouin Tent.
Day 6- Monday, June 25, 2007- DESERT LIFE
We enjoy breakfast this morning with the Bedouin community...Our morning
continues with a jeep ride into the Ramon Crater... We can take in the
spectacular views of the crater while enjoying a picnic lunch... After
lunch we drive to Avdat for a tour... We hike down to the desert oasis
springs... In the afternoon we drive to Sde Boker to visit Ben Gurion's
grave and for a talk about the school.... We then begin our travels
north, ending in Tel Aviv, where we will enjoy dinner together at a
Yemenite restaurant, and enjoy and evening tour of the Jaffa port....
Overnight in Tel Aviv Basel Hotel.
Day 7, Tuesday, June 26, 2007- HEADING NORTH
Breakfast. We depart Tel Aviv this morning and head north along
Israel's western shoreline; stopping to take in the beauty of
Caesarea's ancient Roman forts...We then have time to hike in the lush
Carmel Forest, before enjoying a light lunch and a tour of Akko... In
the afternoon we travel to Rosh Hanikra and take a cable car ride to
explore the caverns... We spend the evening in the company of a Druze
community, with the opportunity to learn more about their culture as
we enjoy dinner and hospitality... Overnight Ramot Guest House in the
Galilee.
Day 8, Wednesday, June 27, 2007- THE WATERS OF THE NORTH
Breakfast. We enjoy a morning hike through Wadi Amoud... After lunch, we
enjoy rafting and a water hike at the source of the Jordan River...
After all our morning activities, we have time to relax and enjoy a
wine tasting at a Golan winery... Enjoy dinner together this evening at
Dag Al HaDan, before enjoying an educational hike and lecture...
Overnight Ramot Guest House in the Galilee.
Day 9, Thursday, June 28, 2007-NORTHERN ADVENTURE
After breakfast, the day's exploration of northern Israel will include
hiking and rappelling at Nahal Zavitan... We enjoy the breathtaking view
at the Har Bental look out....Our day continues with a tour of the
synagogue at Katzrin.. In the afternoon we relax and enjoy the hot
spring waters, as well as dinner at Hamat Gader.... Overnight Ramot
Guest House in the Galilee.
Day 10, Friday, June 29, 2007- EXPLORING PAST AND PRESENT
Breakfast. This morning we travel to Beit Shean to explore the ruins
and a nearby hike...Afterward, we continue on to the pools of Sachne,
where we enjoy a swim and a barbeque lunch....We drive toward Haifa,
stopping along the ay to enjoy some local sites and attractions... We
arrive in Haifa before sunset and enjoy the view of this mountainous
region...Overnight Mt. Carmel Hotel.
Day 11- Saturday, June 30, 2007-AT LEISURE IN HAIFA
Breakfast... Enjoy the morning at leisure, before we take a walking tour
of Haifa... Afternoon at leisure enjoying the beaches...Late farewell
Lunch on the beach before we transfer to the airport for return
flight home
Day 12- Sunday, July 1, 2007- ARRIVAL HOME
Arrive back home
