Default Hotels in Europe

My family and I will be going to europe this Jun 04. There will be 4 of us
travelling together. My two children are age 19 and 15. Does the hotel allow
4 of us to say in one room or is there such family room hotels in Spain,
France and Italy. As i will be travellin for a month, i ned to be budget
conscious.
Any recommendation is greatly appreicated.

the cheaper the hotel the smaller the rooms (in general) add to this that
European hotel rooms are already samll and the answer becomes, usually no.
there are, of course, exceptions, but you should be thinking two rooms more
often than one. (even expensive hotels do not tend to come with two king
size beds in Europe- do not be thinking about the Comfort Inn down the
road)

There are family rooms in some hotels, which might be suites consisting
of two rooms.

3+ beds in *one* room are not uncommon in former socialist countries.

In other countries, you might try family apartments instead of hotel
rooms.

http://www.eurapart.com/bb.html is worth a look.

Some of them are cheap enough to have two rooms anyway.

Spain and Italy will be more of a problem. The two king size beds
concept that is common in the US is uncommon in Europe

Be fore warned, the plunging dollar is going to cost you dearly in
Europe. We just got back from England and I hate to see my credit
card bill in the mail.

Hotel or B&B will let the four of you stay in one room, provided they
have rooms to fit that many persons, two signles and a double, four
signles, or the combination. Now you should have an idea of how much
space that leaves for anything else. Here in the States, it is not
unusual when you get a room, it has two doubles for four people even
though you are the only person staying and if you want to cram 10
people in it, it is to your own discomfort. It doesn't work that way
in Europe, or anywhere else in the world for that matter.

We in the US are spoiled.

Not always... if food is included there probably will be a maximum age for
a child .- which could be from 11 and up. If its "Room only" it really
shouldn't make any difference.

You might consider the Ibis chain. They are an economy class hotel, clean and
comfortable but short on frills. We stayed in the Ibis in Reims two years ago
and got a suite for 430 FF, less than half what we paid for a room for two in
Paris. We also found Mercure hotels to be fairly reasonable, much nicer than the
Ibis. The Mercure did not charge for our 15 year old son, and when in Paris he
got his own room for free.
