Default Book Trip to LA Now or Wait?

I am going to be flying to LA from Lexington, KY in April '05. With
some of the airlines on shaky ground, I have some questions.

SHould I book now or should I wait?

Should I book via Priceline or CheapTickets.com, and if the airline
fails, what options do I have or should I book it through AAA.

Thanks

Terri

I am a neighbor an hour east of you and here is what I suggest. If you have
lots of cash, book whenever you want, but, if not, then.....

plan on flying out of Louisville, it will be way cheaper than LEX or CVG
(Cincinnati).

I use www.bestfares.com to watch fares, and I have normally seen the best
prices to the west coast about February. Just watch their 'snooze you lose'
page.

Last winter I saw prices as low as $99. to John Wayne (Orange County) and
$130. to San Francisco.

Priceline works, too, but you need to know a price range. Try
www.biddingfortravel.com to explore what is currently successful for your
destination.

Don't overlook www.southwest.com . They are the reason that Louisville has
fairly low airfares and they fly to most of the west coast from Louisville.

Choices, choices....have a great trip.

Thanks JP, however, if I book online, what happens if something happens
to the airline?

Unfortunately, Southwest is only taking reservations up to 3/3/05.
