Cruise Ship Terminal To Be Built In Red Hook, Brooklyn
The cruise ship industry will soon be dropping anchor along the Brooklyn
waterfront. Governor George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Wednesday announced a long-term lease agreement to create a $30 million cruise terminal in Brooklyn. Construction of the facility at Piers 11 and 12 in Red Hook is expected to begin next month. The governor says the project should create 600 jobs, and he says it ensures Brooklyn's waterfront will remain "a vibrant hub for maritime activity." Officials expect the terminal to begin operating by the end of this year. |
