Default Seeking Travel Partner

Hi,

I have a female friend who is looking for female travel partner(s). She
is Chinese in her early 30's. She plans to visit the big cities on the
East Coast - Washington DC, New York, Philly, Atlantic City (NJ), and
maybe Boston before August 28, 2006.

If you're interested, please send an email to electronics123 at
hawaii.com. Thanks!

Getting a travel partner for a female over the internet. Smart, very
smart.

There are groups dedicated to people seeking other travel partners...
the web boards at
www.hostels.com are oriented around this sort of
thing for people with similar itineraries to hook up.

The thing is, I just find going to stay in hostels to be the smartest
way to meet people, so I'm not stuck being around anyone I don't like
any longer than I'm a guest at that hostel. It's easy to make friends
that way, a little more difficult when you meet people who are already
travelling in groups and speak a different language. But there's always
someone who may be headed in the same direction. I watched a guy using
some mapping software map out his route back to San Francisco almost
exactly to what I had been thinking of doing before I left. I travel
alone, and take detours on a whim, so I don't do well with companions.

And of course, there's always going to be weirdoes replying to such a
request. Weirdoes are everywhere, seeking friends in one manner over
another isn't any less safe, some behaviour is just classified as
"risky" because there are people who prey on the vulnerable.

S.
