Default Amsterdam night life question

Hello!
I will be in Amsterdam for a 23 hour stopover coming Thursday, and I decided
to skip a hotel and spend the night in the city. Could you make any
suggestions?

Leave most of your stuff at the airport, and catch the train in. Once
in the centre, you should have little difficulty finding stuff to do,
depending on your tastes. If it's nightlife you are after, Amsterdam
should cater for all your needs, plus a bit.

Keep hold of your wallet whereever you go!

If you're going all night, you'll probably want to find a larger nightclub.
You'll have to pay cover, but they have chill-out rooms with sofas where you
can catch a nap (assuming you can sleep with loud music peeking through from
nearby).

If you are bi-sexual or gay, you may consider the Thermos night sauna. I
know several people who have stayed 3 or 4 days in Amsterdam without getting
a hotel room! See: http://www.thermos.nl/english/index.html

Default Amsterdam night life question

Everyone, thanks for the responses. I'm afraid that staying in a gay sauna
will be an adventure I don't need!
I asked the same question my friends, and one of them told me that on
weeknights everything closes by 1AM. How much truth in it? I hope I will not
have to spend the night in the airport.

Pubs close at 2AM. Clubs close at 4AM. (thu and sun, fri and sat one hour later)

Have a good time!

Adiós,

Hi,

actually spending the night at schiphol wouldn't be that bad. you can do
more or less anything at schiphol (no licensed coffee shop yet, but some
advertize in the phone book as being close and I'm sure any cab driver
could help)... you can eat, drink (I like to have some sushi and a few
beers while watching the planes), have a massage (there's a brothel
opening a "massage" as I understand it), play a round of (simulated)
golf, sleep (from real hotels to very simple), shop (good duty free),
gamble (I don't gamble but there is an official casino), surf the net
(I'm a bit psychotic about checking mail), visit a museum (the
rijksmuseum has an annex) ..........

in "normal" hours they've got organized quicky amsterdam tours........
