Default Airports in the new EU countries

Does anyone know if/when airports in the 10 new EU countries will be processed
as other EU airports from the point of view of customs/immigration starting
May 1st ?

Immigration is separate from EU-ness. In some cases customs is too.

What are you specifically asking?

Immigration is separate from EU-ness.


Not completely. Most airports and seaports in EU countries have seperate
desks for EU citizens.

Separate desks is a 'crowd handling' issue, directs queues which can be
processed more quickly appropriately!!!

If you mean are they participating in shengen, then the answer is no.

Schengen. The new EU members are expected to become Schengen participants in
2007.
