Don't worry. During your early morning game drive you'll be glad to wear
more than just a long sleeved T-shirt.

What would you recommend?

What sort of temperatures can I expect in late-Jan, early-Feb?

It`s still the hot season so on the coast thirty degrees plus, Nairobi
and up country upper twenties. If you go to Lake Turkana it will be up
to thirty eight degrees. We were on the lower Tana river for three
years where it was forty two and more, in the shade! I got fed up with
spraying the "Off" every night but when I did get bitten I sometimes
had a bad reaction to some insects, so I did spray.

Those are all mid day temperatures. I was referring to the early
morning, when it can be really cold. It's not uncommon to be as low as
fifteen degrees Celcius or less in the early morning, especially in the
higher areas such as Masai Mara. The wind can also be quite strong.
Bring T-shirts AND a sweater.

Johan,
Ja, it can be cool in the Mara early morning but in January and
February by ten AM it will be warm! It depends where you are. The
Coast at that time is still hot, plus Samburu, Tsavo, Amboseli will be
hot during those months by ten AM. It`s worth knowing! A sweater in a
bag is always useful.

Pat,

but that's after the 6 am early morning game drive and after
breakfast (at 9 :-).

Sometimes I have to wipe the dew from the jeep windows in the
morning and use the windshield wipers to see something. I
usually close the windows and put the heating to max when I
drive off just before sunrise. I still wear a very warm jacket.

At around 8 am it usually gets warmer, so I can take the jacket
off.

I'm a photographer. To me 10 AM is almost afternoon. Early morning to me
means 5.30 AM. ;-)
