3 Weeks Oz East Coast - where to go?
Hi,
I have 3 weeks from end Oct till mid Nov 05 on East Coast. Arr in MEL and leave from SYD. Plan to spend total 5 days in MEL & SYD. Want to dive 3-4 days (live aboard) in GBReef. See Whitsundays. For the rest (ca. 10-12 days) I am looking for best route to spend 8-10 days in camper van (we are a couple, 30y old). Maybe 2 days Outback. Thought of these options. a) driving up from MEL to Brisbane, though this might be too far for 10 days...(?) b) driving Cairns/Townsville to Brisbane and around Brisbane, then fly to SYD c) Brisbane to Sydney. What's the most promising for that time of year? Thoughts? Thanks a lot (pls email answer, too). Jan |

Driving Melbourne to Brisbane - 2 to 4 days depending on number of stops and
which way you go. Go the Newell highway and you are on the fringes of the outback. Cairns to Brisbane - 2 to 3 days depending on stops Brisbane to Sydney, 1 1/2 to 2 days, once again depending on stops. There are plently of places to see and things to do on any of these routes and you could easy spend a week or more on each route. When I have siad 2 days, there are basically no stops. Thanks Stevesub,
what I meant is to spend 10 days on either of those segments rather than rushing through. Meant to be a nice "let's see things" trip. Any recommendations on nice spots to camp, cool things to visit, backland routes, ....i can imagine that driving along beaches for almost 2 weeks getsb a bit dull (I am not a surfer), so am wondering if Cairns - Brissbane has enough varierty. How would the weather btw MEL and SYD be? Jan "Stevesub" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... Driving Melbourne to Brisbane - 2 to 4 days depending on number of stops and which way you go.
