Default Sydney transport

Can anyone advise which is best method of transport ticket for
Sydney CBD area for a 4 day trip. Train/buses/ferry/all of them
Is Sydney Explorer ticket worth buying or is a day tripper ticket
available that allows usage of all types of transport and how much?
Arriving by air so would need train ticket to city from airport
Is there a online map of Sydney train/bus ferry etc?

For
Sydney transport infoline/trip planner: http://www.131500.info/
Sydney Busses & Ferries: http://www.sydneybuses.nsw.gov.au/
Sydney Rails (city train): http://www.cityrail.info/
Interstate Trains (New South Wales, Aust Capital Territory, Victoria and
Queensland): http://www.countrylink.info/

You can find the online map of Sydney train/bus/ferry on the above websites.

Transport from Sydney airport to the city:
1. Train from airport to city (Central station) costs around $11 p/person
one way, then you need to make your way to your hotel.
2. Airport (bus/van) shuttle (around $8 p/p one way). They take you from
airport to your hotel.
3. Taxi, the fare is around $25 from airport to city.

Sydney Explorer is worth to buy if you are going to see all those attraction
near the Explorer bus stops eg. Opera House, Art Gallery, Powerhouse Museum,
etc.
You need to work out your plan (where you want to go), then see if a day
tripper ticket is worth it.

When leaving Sydney, just take the train to the airport. It's cheaper
than a taxi and convenient. Have fun!

The above reply is quite correct. There is however a day tripper pass on all
trains, ferries and govenment buses for $15.00 per day or you can get a
weekly ticket [purple travelpass] for $54.00 - see
http://www.cityrail.info/fares/fare_3.jsp

Whilst this is true, it DOESN'T cover you on all government transport
- "Premium" services are excluded, like the Sydney Explorer, JetCat
services (before 1900), and so on, whereas the Sydney Pass covers
these. Not sure if Sydney Pass covers the Airport services.

When I train it to work I use a yellow weekly pass ($44)which covers
trains buses and ferries out to Auburn and included the manly ferry
(not sure about jet cat). There is a $10 platform charge for the
airport line.

Taxi drivers in Sydney generally do not know wher they are going so
hopefully you do.

Who wants to use the jet cat to Manly as a tourist anyway. The normal ferry
is much slower and you see more that way.
Last January we stayed in Lane Cove River Caravan Park (in the national
park) and used the weekly ticket for the area and were able to do all things
on the water we wanted to, including the trip to Parramatta.
