Default Moreton ferry to assist tourism

A new $10 million ferry to Moreton Island, near Brisbane, would herald
a new era of accessibility for tourists, officials said.

The ferry will be able to carry 40 people and 50 cars and make the
trip from Brisbane to Tangalooma, on Moreton Island, in a little more
than an hour.

This will cut the journey time in half.

"Moreton Island, a popular destination for holidaymakers and
day-trippers, will now be more accessible to those wanting to
experience the Island's many natural attractions and activities,"
Queensland's Tourism Minister, Margaret Keech, said.

"Where else can you take a quick ferry trip to a national park that
promises experiences such as encounters with dolphins in their natural
habitat, whale and bird watching, sand dune riding and mountain
climbing?"

The ferry includes a viewing deck that seats 100 passengers. -
