Something special? Apart from Christmas? LOL!

You could try the city...

December will be summer - bring loose clothing.

Be prepared for lots of BBQs in the parks.

A lot of stores will be closed.

January/February Australia heats up... 35+ degrees celsius. In some
cases, 43 degrees celsius and above.

Eh, check out this website:

For a list of events and going-on's.

On the 24th there will be a mad rush as everyone gets there last minute
Christmas shopping done. I must say I've never seen so many people in
the city in any other time of the year than in the few days leading up
to Christmas (especially weeknights as people try and fit in Christmas
shopping after work, before heading home).

Though do be aware that in some cases there will be days where it'll be
pouring with rain and it can be considerably cold if you're not
appropriately dressed.
