marrakech - Merzouga??

Hi all,



The first week of may my wife and I are going to Marrakech. I know this is a
great place and that there are a lot of fascinating things to see. But we
also would like to make a trip into the desert (f.i. Merzouga). However, I
have some simple questions:

1. is it possible to make a trip of about 3 -4 days tot Erfoud/Merzouga or
some other desert location from Marrakech, or is the distance from Marrakech
to big? We only have 7 days, and fly back from Marrakech again.

2. If it is possible, could anyone recommend a tour operator in Marrakech
that is reliable and good? And maybe you also know what this would cost us?

Yes, you can do it.

Check at the Hotel Ali just off Jemaa al-Fna. I think it's about $50 for a
3-day trip.

Marrakech-Erfoud-Merzouga-Erfoud-Marrakech in 3/4 days is
a little too rush, IMHO...

....consider :
1 day Marr-Ouarzazate
1 day Ouarzazate-Merzouga
1 full day exploring Merzouga area

...as an alternative you can get Zagora instead Merzouga.

Marrakech

We specialize in trips to the desert and arrange drivers, hotels, camel
trips, etc.

I certainly agree that it should be a manumit of 5 days from Marrakech to
Merzouga and back.

We have a small hotel/bivouac I could arrange for you once you get to
Merzouga.
I also could recommend a nice hotel we use in Ouarzazate or Todra Gorge.

If you want to rent a car yourself, ok. You can drive on asphalt into
Merzouga now.

The driving is quite hazardous in places.
