driving time sounds about right, one small suggestion is that you
figure in some wiggle room; we have made that trip many times, our son lives in Port Deposit,MD , and have been tied up in the tunnel. Last year a major shut down of I-95 due to a fatal accident and the other roadways were pretty well jammed up. It took us 3 hours for a 45 minute drive to Philly. -- jtc "Alec D. Plotkin" wrote in message ... All, Any tips on driving between Philadelphia to BWI Airport. I need to take my wife to a flight out of BWI on Friday afternoon. Pickup will be Sunday evening. I am thinking about 2 1/2 Hrs driving time. I have checked AAA and Yahoo maps for directions. We live in the western suburbs. TIA, Alec |

If you're concerned about the tunnel, you can go around Baltimore on the West side (go CCW around the Beltway, I-695). It adds about 15 miles and 15 minutes to the trip. -- Bert Hyman | St. Paul, MN | |

If you aren't stuck on driving, consider taking Amtrak to BWI. Most all
of their trains stop there, and there is then a free shuttle to get you to the terminal. TIA, Alec 2 important points that ought to change your mind about taking I-95 down: 1) you're coming from the west suburbs (I'm assuming you're out near West Chester or so), 2) it's a Friday afternoon, so you're competing with rush hour and people who are leaving work early to go on a weekend trip (many to the beaches in Delaware or down in Ocean City). Basically, if you're going to Baltimore from the West Chester area, consider taking US-1 all the way into Baltimore and making your way over to 295 (I think it's Russell St. or Pace St. that becomes 295). You miss all the tolls this way and the only area you should run into some congested traffic is the area between downtown Baltimore and BWI. You're going to go by the ballpark, but it shouldn't be a problem since the Orioles are out of town for the weekend. 2 1/2 hours to do this sounds reasonable, by the way. |
