Default Atlantis, Paradise Island or the Moon Palace, Cancun?

We are a family of 4, adults 43 and 49, teens 13 and 14. We are considering
these two options for our next summer vacation. We are basically typical
"touristy" types. I'd like to sit on the beach all day reading, having a
cabana boy bring me pina coladas, and heading to get a massage when I manage to
move out of my chair. Unfortunately, my kids tend to get bored watching me do
that, and need a bit more entertainment. ;-)

Can anyone give feedback on either of these options, or suggest something else?

Well, you'll spend a whole lot more money for the same package at
Atlantis. I'd still like to go there, despite it all, just to see the
aquarium and stuff.

Moon Palace has a lot of families, which will work well for you.

You might also consider Xpu-Ha, also a Palace resort in the Riviera Maya.

I second Deidre. Atlantis is ridiculously over priced. But then when
you strip away all the frills, it's just a gambling casino. Casino
rooms are always over priced. If you want to see an aquarium there are
plenty of them in other vacation destinations with other things to do as
well. NYC Coney Island Aquarium, Camden NJ Aquarium, Charleston SC
Aquarium, Sea World Florida, Sea World California to name a few.

Yes, but in my case I want to see ALL the cool aquariums.
I've probably been to 20-30 in the last ten years including both Sea
Worlds mentioned (I visit San Diego's annually).

But that's the ONLY reason I'd stay at Atlantis. Don't get me wrong, I'm
perfectly happy to sell it to people who want to stay there. But, dollar
for dollar, I could think of a lot better places to spend my money,
especially since I prefer places without casinos.

Then again, my preference generally is for smaller and more rustic.

We went 3 years to moon palace
The food gets boring, but the accomadations are great and the property keeps
the kids entertained. Also, they come and go as they want and eat whent they
want, which is a big plus. Make day trips to Beach Palace, and rent a Jeep and
go to XPU HA, you can explore the mexican countryside, have a destination, and
eat for free with your Moon Palace Bracelet. GREAT snorking too.
Moon Palace is not the 4 Seasons, but it is a great FAMILY trip

You can see the aquarium without staying there - you just have to pay
for it. There is also a hotel nearby which is cheaper but from which
you can share all the water toys etc of Atlantis. I forget which one
it is now.

I know, but if I'm going to bother to go to Paradise Island from the west
coast, might as well stay at Atlantis too.

Be prepared to offer up your 401k plus first born as payment. There are
lots of places in the Bahamas where you can stay for less and see marine
wild life. Aquariums exist in other places in the world, you don't have
to waist your money on the one at Atlanti$.

But she WANTS to see the one at Atlantis. I did too - I just didn't
stay there. You can go see it without spending all that money - costs
$20 @ if you use the coupon on the maps.
