The Oceania policy sounds good to me. Azamara which tries to copy
Oceania had about the same policy and I thought it worked well.
Celebrity also has one of the more restrictive smoking policies. The
casino on Constellation was smoke free and it was the first time I
could stand being in the casino. And the casino was full every evening.

Charles,
I have heard from someone whom I consider a reliable source of information,
since she works for the cruise industry, that the beautiful "Crow's Nest" on
the Statendam is now part smoking and part non-smoking. That it is divided
by a sheet of sorts (as if that would do any good). I wonder if this was
just on the voyage that she was on recently or is going to continue on HAL
ships. It would be a tremendous disappointment to me and I would re-consider
booking a HAL ship if it were. Have you heard anything concerning this?

I have not heard anything but that would be a shame. On my last two HAL
cruises the biggest complaint I heard about smoking was people not
being able to use their balcony because of neighbors smoke and about
smoking on the outside promenade deck. On Volendam the biggest problem
was that the casino opened into a central public area. I have a balcony
next week on Carnival and I am concerned about that.

Charles,
What concerns me is that the person who told me was actually on the
Statendam sailing and saw this for herself. I hope that they are not going
to continue this practice. Our eldest son and his family are going on the
Statendam to Alaska on my recommendation next June; are not smokers, and the
Crow's Nest is one of the nicest places on the "Dam" ships. I don't go on
Cruise Critic very often, but maybe someone will mention it there.

Charles,I am an advid cruiser and there are ships out there that are
totally NON Smoking if that is what you are looking for. I am not
sure where you are traveling from but if you look at the individual
cruise sites it will tell you.

I am a smoker , well actually a reformed smoker, I only greensmoke now
which is like an electronic cigarette but it doesn't smell or bother
anyone.

I will tell you I find it totally offensive even being a reform smoker
and a smoker when I took my last cruise that the casinos lacked the
adequate ventilation in order to get all that smoke out. That was
bad.

As far as the balconies go, being a smoker , I didn't park my butt out
there the whole time and smoke but I could see where others would say
they could smell the smoke coming from the other balconies but I
promise you they won't stay out there all day so you can still enjoy
your balcony.

On the other hand, if they are out there the whole time , then just
throw something at them ,, LOL. sorry, I had to.

But if you have a familiy member, loved on, friend or traveling
companion who smokes and you don't , then you should tell them to
check out greensmoke electronic cigarettes. They are fantastic and I
am sure most non smokers would approve.

Check it out… In the U.S. go to www.greensmoke.com/jedsono27
In the UK go to www.greensmoke.uk.com/jedsono27

If you purchase within the month of December you can get
5% off your purchase of $50.00 or more (Coupon Code disc5-20229)
Or
10% off your purchase of $100.00 or more (Coupon Code disc10-20229)

Another pro-smoking terrorist troll.

Like my smoker co-worker who has not worked for three months now
because he has to take oxygen due to diminished lung capacity from
years of smoking. Although I feel bad he is ill I don't feel bad
about taking his job since he put himself in that situation.

My blessings to any one that wishes to smoke,if they can afford $8.00 a
pack + taxes more power to them,as for us we save that money and cruise
2 or 3 times a year.

Does that make you an anti smoking troll zealot?

Seriously, if smoking kills, why hasn't the government just banned it?
Outlawed it totally? Made it a crime to possess and use tobacco?

If there was incontrovertible proof that tobacco kills and that second
hand smoke kills, then it would be banned.

BTW, you used to smoke, right? Nothing worse than a reformed anything.
